British Transport Police is committed to educating local communities, especially young people, about the railways, safety issues and the consequences of railway crime.

Through our Neighbourhood Policing initiative we want to encourage local people to tell us about their concerns and priorities for policing the railways.

Our TeachingZone gives you access to free downloadable information and resources about the British Transport Police, railway crime issues and rail travel security. The resources include lesson plans, factsheets, posters, and classroom activities as well as media files that can be downloaded for use by pupils or with school interactive whiteboards.

Thanks to everyone who has helped in the railway crime education campaign. In 2007 no child under 16 years of age was killed trespassing on the railway - this was for the first time in 10 years. For more information see extract from RSSB Annual Safety Report 2007.
